How PTET Rank is Calculated

PTET rank is determined purely by the marks scored in the PTET exam on a single merit list. The exam is out of 600 marks (4 sections Γ— 50 questions Γ— 3 marks each). In case of tie in marks, the candidate older in age is given higher merit. Each year, approximately 5–6 lakh candidates appear, making competition significant.

Separate rank lists are prepared for each category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) and for each course type (2-Year and 4-Year B.Ed). Your rank within your category determines your college allotment priority. Our converter estimates your overall rank and category rank based on previous year score distributions.

FAQ

How many students appear in PTET every year?
+
Approximately 5–6 lakh (500,000–600,000) students appear in PTET each year. This is the total across both 2-Year and 4-Year B.Ed programs. The actual number varies each year based on eligibility and enrollment trends.
Is PTET rank common for all categories?
+
PTET has a combined merit list but separate rankings per category for college allotment purposes. A candidate's rank in their own category is what matters for counselling, not the overall rank. Reserved category students are evaluated against category-specific cutoffs.
